Create a dazzling summer display with the rich, deep orange blooms of this impressive African marigold. The densely petalled flowers have an attractive carnation-like form and are carried on strong, upright plants. Spectacular when planted in bold groups, Kees Orange is also ideal for filling gaps in sunny beds and borders. Regular deadheading encourages a continuous display until the first autumn frosts.

SOW INDOORS February-April, thinly in pots or trays of seed compost, 0.5cm/quarter-in deep. Keep in gentle warmth and transplant at the 2-4 leaf stage. Harden off and plant out during May after the risk of frost has passed, spacing plants 30cm/12in apart. SOW OUTDOORS April-May, directly into the flowering position. Thin seedlings as necessary. Keep moist until established and remove faded flower heads regularly to prolong flowering.
