SOW INDOORS April-May, singly in pots of compost. Harden off in late May and plant into the final position in June. SOW OUTDOORS May-July, directly into prepared soil, 5cm/2in deep. Space plants 15-25cm/6-10in apart in double rows 30cm/12in apart. Provide tall canes, a bean frame or netting for support. Pick the pods regularly while they are young and tender to encourage further cropping.
