Sow Indoors : April-May singly on edge in pots, at a depth of half-inch/1.5cm Temperature 60-68°F/15-20°C. Harden off Late May Plant out June, protecting with fleece if there is a risk of colder weather. Grow on black plastic or ground cover to enable more heat to get to the roots or place plants in large pots in the greenhouse. Once at least one male and one female flower has formed (female flower will produce a swelling behind the flower bud) and are fully open, use a fine art brush to take pollen from the male flower and introduce to the female flower. The fruit will start to swell within 7-10 days. Once 2 or 3 flowers have been pollinated it is advisable to remove the growing tip to encourage full size fruit. Harvest August-October.
