The leek moth (Acrolepiopsis assectella) is spreading its range in the UK. It flies from early April until late May, with a second generation from early July to late August. The mated female lays eggs near the base of the plants. The eggs hatch about 14 days later into the caterpillars which will quickly burrow into the foliage, then move to the centre of the plant feeding on young leaves. While they mainly feed on onions and leeks they will also attack other members of the onion’s family.

When to use:
The trap should be set up in early April for the first generation or early July for the second generation.

Made in the UK, endorsed by RHS.
