Product Description

A number of the varieties in our range are classic heritage varieties which have been favourites of ours for many years! Some dating back to 1908 when D.T. Brown were first established. Heritage varieties have been gaining in popularity with our customers over the past years. The main reason heritage varieties are making a comeback is for their unbeatable flavours, reliability and simply that some gardeners like to have a story behind the varieties they grow.

For the season ahead we have put together this fantastic heritage collection which contains a selection of the customer favourite veg varieties. The collection contains 7 packets of seed, 1 each of the following varieties:

Radish French Breakfast 3 - A reliable old favourite! French Breakfast 3 is a fast cropping variety, producing cylindrical red radishes, tipped with white. The roots are crisp and have a mild flavour, perfect for adding to summer salads. Sow regularly for a tasty supply of fresh picked radishes all summer long.

Broad Bean Bunyards Exhibition - (White Seeded) The gardeners' favourite broad bean for more than a century and still our most popular spring-sown variety. Expect up to 8 delicious beans from this reliable performer. A great one for freezing and for the show bench.

Pea (Maincrop) Alderman - A tall variety, which can be grown like runner beans, this Victorian variety has much more than historical value. We think you will agree that with heavy crops of long pods, each holding up to 11 large and delicious peas, Alderman is the finest tall pea, with the advantage of a long harvesting period.

Tomato Bloody Butcher - (Medium) Sorry about the name, but its really strong, 'red-blooded' tomato taste makes up for it. The red skinned, medium sized fruits have dark red flesh. Grow outdoors or indoors. Indeterminate.

Carrot St. Valery - The exhibitor's carrot par excellence, it was introduced in the 1880s, but still takes some beating. Also know as New Red Intermediate. A high yielding maincrop, the uniform roots have a splendid colour and very good flavour.

Leek Musselburgh - A splendid Victorian variety which is still a great favourite with many of our customers. A mid season leek with thick, rather short stems of very good flavour. Very hardy and totally reliable.

Beetroot Chioggia - This old Italian favourite shows alternate red and white rings when sliced - just the job for adding interest to salads. Its flavour is mild and most appealing. Roots become pink when cooked. (Multigerm)
