Two great Blackberries:
Ouachita (Early Season): This mid-season Floricane variety was bred in Arkansas, USA. It has an upright growth habit and is spine-free, so picking the large fruits (often 50% larger than good old Loch Ness) is easy. Its erect growth means it can be grown closer together and gives higher yields from a smaller space. Ouachita can even be grown in a pot if space is severely limited. Most importantly, it has a wonderfully sweet, true blackberry flavour.
Navaho (Late Season): Navaho blackberry plants will give you large clusters of sweet blackberry fruits (up to 7g per fruit) on this upright, easy picking plant. Navaho crops from late August.
Both delivered as potted plants in 2 litre pots.
Floricane varieties fruit on canes produced in the previous year while Primocane varieties produce fruits on current season growth.
Last autumn we took the decision to offer all of our potted fruit in 2 litre pots instead of 9cm pots. In many instances, the price remained the same but you get a larger plant that’ll establish sooner and as a consequence, fruit earlier and longer too. The plants are, on average, a year older than 9cm potted varieties and due to the larger pot, the roots have more room to grow and develop which in turn allows them to absorb more nutrition, resulting in stronger and healthier plants.
