Albert Bartlett is Britain's leading grower and packer of potatoes. Still a family run business like us they have a slogan "Naturally Grown, Naturally Tasty" which we think fits with D.T. Brown!
This great collection contains a 1.5kg pack each of :
Apache : A very striking potato! Small and round with a warm red skin dotted with cream with a lovely smooth texture. Scrubbed and cooked whole, Apache makes a delicious change from traditional roast potatoes. The contrasting colours stay bright if blanched before roasting whole in their skins, giving an excellent, almost sweet, buttery, chestnut flavour.
Isle of Jura : Expect an excellent flavour which has already been highlighted in numerous third-party taste tests. Isle of Jura has medium dry matter with a smooth texture and boils extremely well. It is very versatile and can be baked and roasted, making delicious and easy wedges. It also makes fantastic mash. In addition, Isle of Jura has good disease resistance and is easy to grow.
Rooster : A delicious flavour, tubers have shallow eyes, making it easy to peel, and it is excellent 'all year rounder'. Bake, chip, boil, stem, roast or fry!
Potatoes are one of the most rewarding vegetables to grow. There’s the nurturing process of chitting, planting and earthing-up, the anticipation of a good harvest as you dig through the soil and, of course, the unbeatable taste of fresh, home-grown, potatoes.
All potatoes (except for maincrops) will benefit from ‘chitting’ prior to planting out. The chitting process encourages the seed to sprout, which then when planted, helps them to establish more readily, leading to bigger crops. Simply place them, blunt end up, in an old egg box until the shoots are approximately 1½ to 2½cm (½ to 1in).
Potatoes are delivered in 1.5kg bags, each pack containing approx. 15-20 tubers.
