A real advance, which makes growing runner beans so much easier. Firelight is almost self-fertile, which gives improved pod-set (often a problem) and considerably higher yields than older types. The stringless pods are full of flavour, and are produced in abundance even in hot, dry summers. We know you will be impressed by this British-bred, scarlet-flowered runner.

Sow outdoors May-July. Depth 5cm/2in, Rows Double rows, 30cm/12in apart. Sow Indoors April–May, singly in pots of compost . Depth 2.5cm/1in. Harden off from late May. Transplant to final position in June. Support with bean frames or netting. Spacing 20cm/8in . Harvest July onwards. Harvest regularly to encourage a continuous supply of beans. Suitable for freezing
