Our patio range of fruit trees is made up of both true genetically dwarf varieties and conventional varieties which are grafted onto dwarfing rootstocks in a special way. Creating very compact trees by utilising special grafting techniques has been carried out for a very long time indeed, by exploiting much of what has been learned over the years of rootstock and scion interaction. Dwarfing rootstocks are utilised and these are budded very high with the scion variety, chosen for their naturally occurring compact habit, to create even more dwarfing characteristics for the whole tree. The resulting trees can be planted to best effect in large pots and a suitable regime of root pruning can be carried out to maintain the dwarf appearance. Similarly, root pruning techniques can be employed in the open ground to very great effect. Couple this with a little shoot pinching in spring and summer and the result is perfect for interest and variety in all gardens.
Height for all 90-120cm/3-4ft.
All patio fruit trees will be supplied in 4.5 litre pots and will come with a full growing guide.
