Buddy has been bred at the famed East Malling Research as part of a programme to develop new strawberries that will fruit well in our changing climate. Buddy will fruit in even very hot summers which is becoming a more regular occurrence in the UK. High temperatures can cause a dip in flowering and fruit production so Buddy is welcomed by commercial growers as well as we home gardeners.
