Sloe's are also known as 'blackthorn', the sloe has long been part of our countryside, but is becoming scarcer. Sloe's grow into large shrubs or small trees, with stiff, spiny branches, ideal for hedging or as part of a wildlife-friendly garden.

The creamy flowers in spring are followed by black sloes with their characteristic blue 'bloom' in autumn. While the sloe's are incredibly astringent, they can be left for wild birds or infused with gin to make that classic winter warmer.
