Have you noticed how shallots are back in vogue? Top chefs and cookery writers love them - which is no surprise when you consider their versatility and flavour. The shallots we supply are individual, mature bulbs which, when re-planted, grow on to form clusters of several more bulbs. Usually ready to harvest in July, full instructions are included with every order, although they are so easy to grow. A 500gm pack contains between 15 and 30 bulbs depending upon variety.

Shallot Picasso A new, top class shallot with rich brown/red skin of great quality. Planted in autumn or spring, it is generally bolt resistant and produces a splendid crop of mild flavoured bulbs suitable for using fresh, in casseroles and for pickling. The crisp flesh is tinged with pink and the bulbs keep well after harvest.

Shallot Yellow Moon This golden-skinned shallot is the perfect companion to Picasso. It gives a heavy crop of high quality, healthy bulbs whether planted in spring or autumn. The plants are not prone to bolting and the harvested bulbs store very well. Flavour and texture are both excellent.
