Blueberry Plants

Blueberry Plants

Blueberries require an acidic soil in a sunny or semi shaded position. They are easily grown in containers, allowing plenty of room for growth and use an ericaceous compost.

They prefer rainwater wherever possible and will also benefit from annual mulch. Do this every spring while the soil is still moist from winter rain.

Each year in March or April apply a lime-free fertiliser and an additional feed of sulphate of ammonia can be applied if growth is slow.

When plants are in full growth, feed regularly with an ericaceous liquid feed. Birds love the fruit too so ensure plants are protected with some netting.

With regular pruning your blueberry plants should remain productive for many years producing delicious fruit every summer and with its attractive flowers and glorious autumn foliage your blueberry plant will make a stunning feature in your garden too.
